NPR Lenten Program

As has become the custom, there will be a NPR Lenten program again this year. After the success of last year's program when we studied lessons from Philip Yancy's The Jesus I Nevr Knew, the decision was made to do another study. This year's program will be The Workbook of Living Prayer by Maxie Dunnam. Ther are six lessons in the book and we will be doing all six. Here is a list of some of the chapter titles:      The format for each evening will be as before, dinner at 6:30 and study to begin at 7:15. The difference this year is that each participant will be asked to buy a workbook. The cost will be $8.00 and scholarships are available. No one will be turned away because he/she cannot buy the workbook. It's also one of those situations where each individual needs his/her own book. It's not appropriate for couples to share one. Another difference is that we will break the large group into three smaller groups to ease the group discussions. Each group will be lead by one of the NPR pastors. A schedule of where we will meet each week is elsewhere in the newsletter. If you have any questions please call the church office (610-534-1081) or speak with Pastor Alice Ann.

Here is a brief biography of Dr. Maxie Dunnam found on the explorefaith.org website: "Visionary president of the largest predominantly Methodist seminary in the United States, Dr. Dunnam is the former Senior Minister of Memphis' Christ United Methodist Church. A gifted preacher, missioner, and author of many book including his widely used Workbook on Prayer, he also serves as Chair of World Evangelism for the World Methodist Council and travels globally as inspiring lecturer and preacher."

I have used other materials by Dr. Dunnam and found them to be very inspirational. I hope that you will come and study this mysterious topic of prayer during our Lenten Season. This may be the perfect opportunity to bring a friend. Come and enjoy dinner and fellowship as well as a time of worship and study as we gather with our brothers and sisters in Christ from the other NPR congregations.
